Product Description

You Pick Eight, 8 pack Sampler - one of each bulb of your choosing (*Will begin shipping approximately the 1st or 2nd week of Sept 2018*)

We've taken several of the more popular, unique, or limited quantity varieties and put them in a "You Pick It" sampler pack. Sometimes it can be hard to choose and this sampler will give the garlic lover more options. You can eat or plant these. Most of these varieties require cold. US/C

SilverskinA favorite softneck for braiding since the stems are thinner but strong. The bulbs wrappers are white and easy to clean. The cloves have skins which are often pinkish in color and can be tall and pointed. The flavor tends to be fairly spicy and hot. Long storage properties garlic has a complex and subtle flavor and high allicin content. It performs best in colder winter climates where it is most productive. It has classic teardrop shape with 4-6 fat cloves that are easy to peel. Pesticide free, Non-GMO grown in the US

KisklykPurple Stripe hardneck variety. Originated near Kishlyk, in southern region of Uzbekistan. Typical large bulbs of the Purple Stripe strain with the classic purple and white striped bulb skin. It has a complex flavor and a long shelf life for a Purple Stripe.8 to 10 cloves per bulb. Mid harvest. Stores 3 to 6 months. Produces scapes. Medium to hot flavor

Korean Mountain - A popular strain now with its classic and beautiful Purple Stripe character. From the Republic of Georgia. Good bulb size and very productive.

Lithuanian Purple - A beautiful new marbled purple stripe. This variety was grown for generations in rural Lithuania and came to us from a grandmother Danute. Most bulbs have 6 cloves and a deep purple coloration.

Nepal - very unusual garlic has 3-6 elongated cloves in two layers (the outer of which has plump cloves) on small to medium white bulbs with light purple streaking. It has broad, fibrous vertical leaves and produces multiple sets of bulbils on the stems. It’s sweet flavor builds to a fiery and lingering crescendo. “Lasun” is the Nepali word for garlic.

Pskem - Unique rich colored garlic. 2 to 4 large cloves set in a satin finish of purple. Becoming very popular. From Pskem River Valley, Uzbekistan

Leningrad - This porcelain hardneck can grow tall. Scapes can reach above 4 feet. 4-6 plump, easy to peel cloves which is typical for Porcelains. Skins can be white or have a purple tinge. Originated in Gatersleben, Germany. Likes cold weather and comes out with a spicy, bold, big flavor. Great storage.

Donostia Red - From a market in the city of Donostia, also known as San Sebastián, located in the Basque autonomous community of Spain. It has 8-12 crimson cloves on smallish bulbs with white wrappers. What the Creole garlic types lack in size they make up for in flavor (extra hot!). Storage is great! This type of garlic tends to grow larger in places with warmer winters and can be productive in cooler areas as well.

Elephant CloveA single, really large Elephant garlic clove that is mild in flavor. Great for garlic mashed potatoes, roasting, or adding to your soups and stews. Extremely easy to peel. Long shelf life. Prefers longer cooler growing season.

Inchelium Red - Our favorite among the softnecks. Its relatively spicy but prolonged taste won the 1990 garlic tasting test at Rodale Kitchens. Originally found growing in the Colville Indian Reservation, it is an "artichoke" softneck. The bulbs can be rather large, sometimes 3 inches across, and can have up to 20 cloves. It stores well. The flavor becomes more pronounced over time.

Amish Rocambole - This rocambole hardneck has been grown in Wisconsin for years.  Some says it has a lineage over 100 years old within the Amish Community and would consider it an heirloom garlic. The garlic bulbs tend to good sized with 7-9 larger easy to peel cloves. This is a strong flavored garlic with a spicy-hot kick that lasts. This garlic will have a serious punch when eaten raw. It is great for drying and making your own garlic powder, you will never purchase garlic powder from the store again. It's that good! Being a rocambole, the wrappers will be on the thin side and can easily flake off, contributing to their limited storage, only 3-6 months (it is know for the flavor, not the storage.)

Viola Francese - Colorful softneck artichoke variety from Provence, in the South of France . The whole plant takes on the violet hue. Very nice balanced flavor. Suitable for warmer climates, but will adapt to cooler weather. Easy to grown with a mid-season harvest.

I am very happy with the order. It was delivered very fast and right in time for planting. Garlic bulbs were of excellent quality. We use a lot of garlic for cooking and pickling and I was looking for ones with the strongest taste. Your sample pack gives perfect opportunity to find what's right for you. I ordered hardnecks. Next time plan to try softnecks. Thank you.

  2. Impressive 5 Star Review

Received my order today - the bulbs were huge and beautiful. I ordered two Montana Giant bulbs, one Pohaski, and one Leningrad. Each bag seemed to yield an even larger bulb than the previous. The Leningrad is especially beautiful - four cloves, each over 1" across and larger than a grape tomato.

  3. Garlic Sample Pack A Great Buy! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Oct 2017

Received my garlic sampler pack. The bulbs were in great condition. I got from 4-10 cloves for each of the varities, more than enough to test these varieties in my garden. Some of the smaller cloves went into home-canned pasta sauce today, and the house smelled wonderful! Thank you for offering this great selection.

  5. Excellent planting stock! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Oct 2016

All of the bulbs sent to me were very large and one was actually gigantic! I had to take that one into the house and show it to some of my family members, where it received appropriate accolades. I have to say, I had thought I was getting some pretty good garlic bulbs from my garden, but now I have a new goal to aim for.

All the bulbs separated into very large cloves for planting, and I am confident that they should make some very excellent results come next year's harvest!

Received my order in perfect shape. Each bulb was carefully wrapped and marked with variety name. The bulbs were firm, fresh and healthy. Easy to pull apart cloves and plant. Love your garlic. This is my third order. I get perfect crops every summer and it is delicious. Keeps in my shed nicely until it gets down to freezing temps at night when I bring it inside and store it in my semi warm basement. Thanks.

Our sampler arrived in great shape and the bulbs were large and unblemished and firm. We have planted them and now wait until next summer to reap the rewards. It is too soon to rate them now, but would be happy to do so next summer after the harvest!

The Garlic Store was recommended to me by a long time friend. I ordered the 4 variety pack for fall planting. They arrived in fine condition and are some of the most beautiful garlic bulbs I have seen. Large heads, firm cloves, in perfect condition. I got them in the ground Saturday so will see how they perform over the next week or so.
