Product Description

1791 Sampler Pack- Cold Winter Softneck Favorities 6-Pack - one bulb of each (*Will begin shipping approximately the 1st or 2nd week of Sept 2018*)

**sampler bulbs may vary throughout the season

These bulbs tend to be BIG! Great way to sample softnecks, this is for cold winters, but will grow well in milder climates as well.

Red TochThis is Chester Aaron’s (Garlic is Life) favorite garlic. Why? Not only does the garlic master love the flavor, but it comes from his parents' home town in the Republic of Georgia,Tochliavari. This is a rare collectors bulb. The bulb can be rather large, and the cloves can be red streaked. It does well in warm and colder climates and tends to mature a bit earlier than most softnecks.
Inchelium Red -
a Rodale kitchen taste test winner; gorgeous cream/pink wrappers; grows quite large
Transylvanian - This lovely artichoke softneck was discovered in a Romanian farmer's market in the mid-1990s. Cream colored bulbs (often with purple stiriping) produce up to 16 cloves & contain an excellent flavor with more than a bit of a bite. We will not make any vampire jokes with this one. These are beautiful bulbs

Silver Rose This silvery skinned artichoke variety bulb is a classic. And....who says softnecks always have small cloves? The rosy-skin bulbs have both large and small cloves. They have some heat, but are not overwhelming. They size up just beautifully in your garden. And they are good keepers. Most will be eaten long before the following spring, but a 8 or 9 month shelf life is possible
Silverskin A favorite for braiding since the stems are thinner but strong. The bulbs wrappers are white and easy to clean. The cloves have skins which are often pinkish in color and can be tall and pointed. The flavor tends to be fairly spicy and hot. Long storage properties.

Lorz Italian  Softneck artichoke that has an average maturity date. It was imported from Italy during the late 19th century to the Columbia River Basin area where it is widely grown. Does well with hot summers and picks up quite a bit of that heat, as it has a very robust flavor. Up to 5 clove layers with as many as 15-18 cloves

  1. Good loking cloves! 5 Star Review

Arrived promptly and has to be the best looking garlic I've bought for planting in a while. Also got nice looking shallots and am just waiting for the weather to get a bit cooler before planting. Instructions were clear and uncomplicated. Thank you!
