Product Description

Xian Garlic - 1/2 lb bag, whole bulbs (*Will begin shipping approximately the 2nd week of Sept 2019*)

Originating in China, this turban hardneck variety is intriguing. It will usually produce a central stalk with an interesting, bean-shaped scape. After mild winters it sometimes grows as a softneck garlic. It matures early and produces gorgeous, red-striped bulbs with fat cloves and shiny, pink-brown skin. Tastes great and can be hot.US/C/W Premium Label, pesticide free, non-GMO

  1. Seems great. 4 Star Review

Nice looking garlic. Got it planted this week. I'm anxious to harvest it in the summer.

  2. Great product, will purchase again. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Oct 2019

I have planted a variety of different garlic from the Garlic store over the last 10 - 15 years and I have always received a great product, I ordered a pound and had 40 usable cloves, generally about 90% sprout.

  3. Xian experience - fall 2015 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Nov 2015

All around amazing - so far.

Ordered Xian two weekends ago, it arrived on the next wednesday and I planted it within an hour of arrival. Yesterday, 8 days after planting, it is already sprouted and sticking out of the ground.

I look forward to harvesting this early variety next summer.

  4. Xian garlic, a star iin my gardens since 2012 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Sep 2015

In my journal I described Xian as very prolific with a beautiful pinkish tinge and many cloves per bulb. From the one order I planted 48 cloves. I also noted that I need to monitor it more closely, because it is the first to be harvested. In addition to being early to harvest, it also has incredible storage ability. I was cooking with Xian in late spring. That was garlic I had harvested the previous June or July.

  5. Good garlic but... 4 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Oct 2013

Just planted my 2014 crop I didn't have enough cloves to plant as much as the last several years. One third of one of the bulbs I received was rotted. Bummer. Had to use some of this years crop to finish. Still love the taste!

  6. I like the heat! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Oct 2013

I planted this variety last year from stock I had from the previous year but it didn't do as well as the ones I buy from the Garlic Store. I like the heat and earthy flavor of Xian.

It's hard to rate something you haven't used. I will be planting in the next few weeks, and won't harvest until June or July. Contact me then, Catherine

  8. Very good garlic 4 Star Review

I have grown this garlic for three years now. I really like the size, flavor and storage length. This garlic is great with fish and/or seafood.

  9. Xian bulbs are huge! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Oct 2012

I planted Xian garlic this year so I can have an earlier stash of garlic next year. The Garlic Store sent monstrous, well formed bulbs that I'm certain will grow great garlic. I tasted a couple cloves and it's stellar. Still has the classic garlic flavor, but it isn't overly forward. A nice, mellow "how do you do?" garlic on the tongue.

  10. Just as advertised. 5 Star Review

Nice healthy bulbs with mostly large cloves.
