Creole Red - 1/2 lb bag, whole bulbs (*will begin shipping approximately the 2nd week of Sept 2019*)
This Creole variety is said to behave rather uniquely. A great choice for southern states and warm weather (where they do best) they will frequently act like a softneck. They need a ton of direct sunlight to size up. While they can adapt to colder weather, if they don't get the sunlight they need, bulbs will be smaller and behave more like a hardneck. What sets them apart from other Creole varieties is their milder garlic flavor mixed with a Shallot profile, a good choice for those of you who eat raw cloves. Often times they will only have a few plump cloves, but size will depend on where they grow and sunlight. Wrappers can have some purple hues. These typically harvest mid-late season and have good storage. US/W/C Premium Label, pesticide free, non-GMO

The Creole Red bulbs arrived in perfect condition, plump and hard with covers intact. They show all the characteristics that make the Creole types so desirable, especially the very hard skin covering the cloves that contributes to a very long storage life. Of course I couldn't resist breaking one open to cook with it - a simple garlic butter that spotlights the qualities of the clove - and it was delicious!
