Product Description

4 Pack Cold Weather Hardneck Sampler - 1 bulb of each, Certified Naturally Grown

This sampler includes 1 of each bulb of these popular hardnecks, perfect for growing in colder weather.

  • Chesnok Red: This hardneck garlic produces large bulbs with purple striped wrappers. It is superb for cooking, holding its flavor and offering a distinctive, lingering taste for the garlic connoisseur. You get 5-10 easy to peel cloves per bulb. The variety may have originated in Georgia (the one in Asia) where it is known as Shevlisi. Grows nationwide and is tied with Spanish Roja for our best all-round variety, but it doesn't mind cold winters either.
  • Georgia FireThis porcelain hardneck's garlic name should not scare anyone away. It is hot but not unpleasantly so - and is great in home made salsa. It produces about 6 large cloves per bulb. Easy to peel. It is also called Cichisdzhvari … obviously easier to pronounce if you are a citizen of Georgia (where so many great garlics have originated). Needs colder weather to thrive.
  • MusicOne of the most popular of the porcelain varieties. The bulbs can be rather large and the cloves have a beautiful pink skin. It is grown throughout the northern US (requires that nice cold weather) where it is prized for its perky flavor.
  • Persian StarThis beautiful purple stripe hardneck garlic has a piquant, rich garlic flavor. The large cloves have red tips. Rapidly becoming a major favorite in the U.S. It is reported this variety came to the U.S. in the 1980s via a bazaar in Uzbekistan. Can grow well in milder and colder climates.

    Good Morning Garlic Store!

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving. Didn't realize the world of garlic existed! Got the bulbs promptly after placing the order and planted them down here in Southern Jersey. A little late for our zone, so we'll see how things go...I'll definitely be ahead of the curve moving forward...I dropped the ball or should I say "garlic bulb" on the discount coupons available, but I'll be sure to look closer next time. Happy holidays!
